  • Communication
  • Stress at work
  • Situational Awareness
  • Emergency situations and accident prevention
  • Passage Planning
  • Error analysis
  • Master / OWW and Pilot relations
  • Evaluation
  • The course is summarized as follows:

    Day One

  • Understanding the Situational awareness
  • Safe Navigation work (as per ICS1 and MCA2)
  • Bridge organization and BRM
  • Bridge check lists
  • Scenario one; familiarization with the Ship’s bridge in a clear weather in open sea day time.
  • Error analysis, discussing mistakes and finding learnt lessons during replaying the scenario again.
  • Day Two

  • Revising Colregs and buoys.
  • Bridge Check lists as per ICS.
  • Passage Planning.
  • Pilot Card.
  • Communication basics.
  • Embarking Pilot.
  • Scenario two; approaching the port in a fresh weather dusk time.
  • Error analysis, discussing mistakes and finding learnt lessons during replaying the scenario again.
  • Day Three

  • Master / OOW and pilot relations.
  • Emergency Check lists as per ICS.
  • Fatigue and Stress
  • Scenario Three; approaching port to pick pilot in bad weather (sea force 7) at night and bad visibility.
  • Error analysis, discussing mistakes and finding learnt lessons during replaying the scenario again
